New 5.7L Pre-Vortec Marine Base Engine (replaces year 1996)
This is a brand new 5.7L/350 c.i. Pre-Vortec Marine Base Engine. This will replace Volvo Penta, OMC, Mercruiser, Crusader, and GM 5.7L engines years 1987 - 1996. Specifically, this engine will exactly replace those engines produced in 1996 when a roller camshaft and lifters were used, but the older 12-bolt intake and mechanical fuel pump was used in conjunction.
1996 was an oddball year for 350's being produced as they used some components off a typical pre-vortec engine (12-bolt intake and associated heads, and a mechanical fuel pump) but also used a roller camshaft and lifters which are typical of a post 1996 vortec build.
This is a perfect stock replacement for those engines that have suffered from a cracked block due to improper winterization or another type of engine failure.
If your engine is using a mechanical fuel pump, you will need to convert to an electric fuel pump to utilize this new pre-vortec engine.
